The aims of this study are 1) to find out kinds of positive and negative politeness in Trump's Speech "Blames China for Coronavirus" 4 July 2020, 2) to explain positive and negative politeness types in the face saving and face threatening act in Trump's Speech "Blames China for Coronavirus" 4 July 2020. This research is descriptive qualitative study focusing on the politeness types. The data source of this research comes from Trump's Speech "Blames China for Coronavirus" 4 July 2020. The analysis technique of this research consists of: 1) watching the speech of Trump's Speech "Blames China for Coronavirus" 4 July 2020 on Youtube, 2) reducing part of the speech that does not belong to objective of the research, 3) classifying data based on the kind of positive and negative politeness types, 4) analyzing the data based on the face saving and face threatening act, and 5) drawing conclusion. The result of this research shows that Trump dominantly used positive politeness type (26 times or 89,66%) by thanking, giving compliment and symphaty to America citizens performed as face saving act (FSA). The negative politeness type was used by Trump in warning and pressing the criminal and the enemy of the state (3 times or 10,34%) performed as face threatening act (FTA). Both FSA and FTA have similar function to maintain personal image, build public trust, and claim the state as world superpower.
